Paleochora, Crete – excellent sandy beaches

This popular town is just a short bus ride from the city and airport of Chania. Paleohora sits on the southern peninsula of Crete and has some excellent sandy beaches.

The town of Paleohora is a busy and bustling resort which is also the main port for the ferries from all over Crete and Greece.

The town is famed for its wonderful fish Tavernas and in the evening when the daily tourists and visitors have left via ferry or bus the smell starts to waft over the town and you can easily be lured into the many cafes and Tavernas.

Depending on your preference the beaches in Palehora run from pebbly and shingle on one side of the town to golden sandy beaches on the west of the town.
